Parenting is Oppressive?!? Part 2 FaithAnchored Speaks – Anchored in Truth Podcast

Part 2 of when did parenting become oppressive focuses on the cognitive and faith development stages of children. Understanding the way a child develops through each stage helps us to understand why it is so dangerous and unhealthy for children to be making adult decisions. Culture today is pumping our children full of societal lies and encouraging them to act on every feeling and desire they have. All while failing to explain consequences of their choices and why it is that they are not capable of making educated, healthy, adult decisions. Furthermore, culture is also encouraging children to rebel against their parents and take a stand for ideologies they do not and can not fully understand, due to their minds not being fully developed. Encouraging our children to fight against their parents, while labeling us intolerable, hateful, and so on. Old Testament: Biblical Beginnings- Part 1

Don’t fall trap to the misleading statements that the Bible or it’s contents are outdated or old fashioned. This is a common smoke screen the enemy uses today to detour non-believers from coming to know truth and freedom in Him.

The ultimate lie to keep you disconnected, broken, feeling empty, and not seeking a relationship with Jesus. The Bible stands true today- just as it did the day it was written. God and His Word are never changing and can ALWAYS be counted on.

Let’s take a look at some of the Bible Basics of the New Testament books. Jot down some key points- interesting facts- and questions you may have- as you read through this short study. (Feel free to email or post questions below in the comment section- I do my very best to answer/write back to everyone who writes)

The New Testament books are a collection of God’s story and begins before time began.

Genesis 1:1 says “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

The key here is to break down this first sentence- In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Take note that in the beginning it was God. The Bible shows us this by making it clear that the Old Testament started before time- before man-before animals- before flowers, trees, plants- before water, air, sound- before light and dark.

In the beginning it was literally God. Nothing more. Nothing less. God is the beginning of life- the beginning of everything.

The Old Testament is a collection of books with great spiritual and personal value. It teaches us about who God is and how life began. It explains how evil was introduced into the world. It inspires us for holy living and fills our hearts with gratitude and praise.

The Old Testament prophesies about the coming of the Messiah, our redeemer. Provides us with a fundamental understanding of God and sets the foundation for the rest of the Bible.

It also sets a standard of truth and lays out the foundation of faith in Jesus Christ.

There are 3 different types of knowledge we can obtain from getting to know God through the Old Testament.

  1. Factual Knowledge– To know God in this manner we must first know about Him. Learning His character and record of miracles and promises kept.
  2. Personal Knowledge-Knowing God in this manner takes us past the information stage and to a stage of relationship. Getting to know God through our own experiences and relationships with those who already have an established relationship with Him.
  3. Practical Knowledge- To know God in this form of knowledge we study His Word and He spells out His will for our life. Shows us how we need to change on the inside to live the life He created us for. Gaining practical knowledge of God through Bible studies such as this will help us to learn how to live in the complex world around us .

8 Common Misconceptions of God

With all the chaos and misinformation in the world today, I feel now is a good time to clear up some common misconceptions of God. Many listen to what the world says about who He is, His character, and His existence. I am writing this article to encourage you to find out the TRUTH for yourself. The best way to do this is by reading God’s Word, the Bible, and discovering the answers for yourself.

The Bible tells us in Jeremiah 29:13 “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”

I have put together a list of 8 common misconceptions about God that I, myself, have heard from “non-believers”.

1. God is mad at me.

TRUTH: God is NOT mad at you! God is slow to anger, quick to forgive. He is an understanding and loving God.

Psalm 103:8

The Lord is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.

Psalm 145:8

The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, Slow to anger and great in mercy.

Colossians 2:14

having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

2. God doesn’t care.

TRUTH: God DOES care! He cares for you more than anyone ever can or will. God wants the best for you. He is near to the brokenhearted. He is always by our side and wants to help us.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

1 Peter 5:7

casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

3. God is not fair.

TRUTH: God is a fair and just God. He knows and sees all. He does not like to see His children be mistreated.

Romans 8:32

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

Isaiah 30:18

Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you;
And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
Blessed are all those who wait for Him.

4. God only hears certain, elaborate prayers.

TRUTH: God eagerly waits for us to come to Him with our needs, repentance, and praise.

Matthew 6:7-8

And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.

“Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.

5. God is mean or cruel.

TRUTH: God is loving and kind. So much, that even children ran to Him when Jesus walked the earth.

Matthew 11:29

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

6. God doesn’t exist.

TRUTH: God is very much alive and working in each of our lives. If you just look around with open eyes and open heart- you will see Him in everything!

Psalm 14:1

The fool has said in his heart,
There is no God.”
They are corrupt,
They have done abominable works,
There is none who does good.

Romans 1:20

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,

7. God is nice.

TRUTH: God is not nice. If He was, we would get everything we desire and not have to pay the consequences for our choices. God is good, and does what is best for us in a loving Father way. He corrects us out of love.

Romans 8:28

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Psalm 100:5

For the Lord is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations.

8. God is just a human like you and I.

TRUTH: Jesus walked the Earth as a human, but He was still God. Jesus is not someone who was delusional and believed He had special powers but was merely a human. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you while reading His word, the Bible– You will see for yourself.

Numbers 23:19

“God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent.
Has He said, and will He not do?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

John 1:1-5

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

Jeremiah 29:13

And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
