Is Your Glass Half Full or Half Empty?

I am sure you have heard the famous question of, “Do you see the glass as half empty or half full?” This question is usually asked when trying to determine if a person is pessimistic or optimistic.

However, I recently heard another pastor (I don’t remember who) state that what people are forgetting is that the glass if refillable!

WOW!

Such an obvious yet deep statement; one that I never really looked at before now.

It is typical of the world we live in to make you believe there are only two options; in this case half empty or half full. In other cases, it may look like; we are to believe what the government and the ‘majority’ are saying or stand against them.

Pushing an outrageous agenda that an individual is either supportive of the misguided opinion or you are a hate filled bigot who must be stopped is another example of today’s society deceiving you to believe it is one or the other.

BUT GOD! There is ALWAYS going to be the original set standard of truth, morality, purpose, and creation. The Bible warns us of the days that the world will perceive lies as truth and truth as lies. We must remember our roots and stand strong like a tree that is planted by the water– we shall NOT be moved.

Going back to the cup analogy; there is another popular saying that comes to mind and that is, “You cannot pour from an empty cup.” Referring to self-care, if you continue to pour out your love, patience, understanding, and so on, but you never refill the cup eventually you will have nothing left to pour out; your glass will be empty.

The point is, you do not have to be conformed to the worlds’ view and perception.

The glass is neither half full nor half empty– the glass is REFILLABLE!

When you are feeling down and like your glass is half empty, I encourage you to dig into scripture and fill your glass back up with good, pure water (the Word) and have confidence in knowing that the Lord knows we all need a ‘refill’ that is why His Word tells us in Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

God knows that the world is going to persecute, distort, and attempt to leave you feeling empty. That is why His Word, the Bible, is full of encouragement, truth, and promises you and I can count on.

We must be careful not to buy-in to the lie that our cups are half empty and we definitely do not want to be refilling our cup with the ways of the world.

If you don’t refill with the correct pure water (truth, the Word of God, and Jesus), your cup will contain filthy, tainted water of the world; which can leave you feeling more empty than ever before.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Lord, I come to You this morning so thankful and humble for Your promises and that You are a promise keeper. Father, sometimes we see our glass as half full and other times half empty. God, You know our hearts and struggles, forgive us for quickly falling trap to lies in the world. God I pray You help us to remember that You are our cup and our cup is refillable! God remind us that we cannot pour from an empty cup and that we need You, Your Word, and Your faithfulness to refill us with good and pure water. Lord help us to remember to call on You when we are feeling weak or empty. Help us to not allow the world to fill our cup with dirty tainted water that will only poison our souls and those around us. Lord, I cry out today fill our cups! Give us the renewed strength, patience, and love we need to continue to spread Your love and kindness to others. I thank you for Your many blessings and claim these promises today in the name of Jesus.

Amen

Devotional-Be Alert!

1 Peter 5:8-9

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.

There are many voices in the world screaming their agendas and beliefs, all trying to get us to ‘jump on their bandwagon’ and stand with them in their ‘truth’. This is a very dangerous game that people all over the world are playing. Right now it is beginning to get very difficult to speak of real truth– the absolute truth— the truth in God’s word.

In the current time we are in when you stand on the truths in the Bible, people in the world begin to persecute you and begin to exercise the newest trend of ‘cancel culture’. Basically this is a ‘if you do not believe the way I do and do not stand up for what I believe to be truth’ you are labeled a fascist, intolerant, hateful, racist, and a whole slew more of not so pleasant labels.

The Bible warns us of such behavior that in the end days the world will not know the truth and they will except lies for truth and begin to worship the antichrist.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
2 Timothy 4:3-4

With all the fairly recent laws that have been passed we can see 2 Timothy 4 playing out in front of our eyes. For instance, marriage is a covenant that God created for a man and woman to become one. The Bible has a lot to say about marriage and its divine purpose for being created. However, the world is morphing the true purpose of marriage, eliminating the divine purpose of God and the facts on what marriage TRULY is.

Another example would be our leaders trying to remove God out of everything– the pledge of allegiance, prayer isn’t allowed in schools, the talk of removing God off of our currency, and the list could go on. The Bible warns us about turning from the ways of the Lord for our own selfish desires and that is exactly what our nation is doing.

28 “So you shall say to them, ‘This is a nation that does not obey the voice of the Lord their God nor receive correction. Truth has perished and has been cut off from their mouth.
Jeremiah 7:28

The light and truth in God’s word is being snuffed out by the evil, prideful, and selfish ways of the current generations in the world. It has morphed from being about what is good and right to what makes one ‘feel good and feel accepted’.

The problem with this is that the world is teaching us all the wrong ways to achieve self happiness and self worth when in fact neither have to do with us. Our actions or feelings are not what leaves us feeling fulfilled. God created us and the ONLY way to feel complete, worthy, and accepted is to understand who we are in Him and NOT what the world says.

19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
John 3:19

The darkness in the world is attempting to fully overtake the light, but we do not have to fear or worry God is in control and knows exactly what is happening. Remain steadfast in the faith and stand upon the rock of Jesus in truth and God will ALWAYS protect and lead the way.

Be alert when reading ‘news’ stories on social media or listening to them via a news station, ask God for discernment to know what is truth and what is a lie, and be on guard to not quickly fall into the ways of the world.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank you Lord for being the voice of truth and the light in a world full of deceit and darkness. I confess that there are times I do not use discernment and quickly fall into the trap of lies the world has to offer; Lord forgive me. I pray that each person that reads this will have an open heart and mind to receive Your message. God it is You who gives me these words and I pray each person would hear what You want them to and receive the message they need to hear through this article. I pray we would all be alert and on guard so that when the enemy attempts to deceive us we are ready to put him in his place. I pray you give us all the courage, strength, and wisdom to follow Your Truth above all else. In Jesus mighty name I pray.

Amen

Daily Devo- Your TRUE Identity

The result of living in a broken world is broken people. We have all faced struggles in life that have left us questioning ourselves. Our self-worth, self-esteem, and our identity should not be based on our life experience and the mistakes we have made. We have all sinned and fallen short of God’s glory, but for that reason God sent Jesus to be our Savior and through Him- there is no condemnation.

God does NOT consult our pasts to determine our future. We are made new through Jesus–all sins are washed away and we are adopted into God’s family. He is a good and loving father– a promise keeper– and He cannot lie. When we accept Jesus into our hearts– confess He is our Savior, the Bible tells us that His spirit is within us. (2 Corinthians 1:20-22)

As Christians we have to actively combat the attacks on our identity and declare the truth of who we are in Christ.

Your True Identity in Christ

Because I, (enter your name) am in Christ, I am secure

  • I am a child of God (John 1:12)
  • I am free forever from condemnation (Romans 8:1)
  • I am assured that in all things God will work for my good (Romans 8:28-29)
  • I am free from any condemning charges against me (Romans 8:33)
  • I cannot be separated from the love of Christ (Romans 8:35)
  • I have been established, anointed, and sealed by God (2 Corinthians 1:21-22)
  • I have been given the Holy Spirit as a pledge guaranteeing my inheritance to come (Ephesians 1:13-14)
  • I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13)
  • I have been rescued from the dominion of darkness and brought into the Kingdom of Christ (Colossians 1:13)
  • I am hidden with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3)
  • I have not been given a spirit of timidity(fear), but of power, love, and a sound mind 2 (Timothy 1:7)
  • I am born of God and the evil one cannot touch me (1 John 5:18)

Because I, (enter your name) am in Christ, I am significant

  • I am the salt of the Earth (Matthew 5:13)
  • I am the light of the world (Matthew 5:14)
  • I am God’s child (John 1:12)
  • I have been chosen to bear fruit that will last (John 15:16)
  • I am Christs personal witness (Acts 1:8)
  • I am God’s temple (1 Corinthians 3:16)
  • I am a part of Christs body (1 Corinthians 12:27)
  • I am a minister of reconciliation for God (2 Corinthians 5:18)
  • I am God’s fellow worker (2 Corinthians 6:1)
  • I am a saint (Ephesians 1:1)
  • I have been raised up and am now seated with Christ in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 2:6)
  • I am a citizen of Heaven (Philippians 3:20)

Because I, (enter your name) am in Christ I am accepted

  • I am Christ’s friend (John 15:15)
  • I have been justified (Romans 5:1)
  • I am united to the Lord, and I am one with Him in spirit (1 Corinthians 6:17)
  • I am a member of Christ’s body (1 Corinthians 2:27)
  • I have became righteous through Him (2 Corinthians 5:21)
  • I have been adopted as God’s child (Ephesians 1:5)
  • I have direct access to the Father through the spirit (Ephesians 2:18)
  • Since I am Gods (son/daughter) and because God sent the Spirit of His son into my heart, I can call out, “Abba Father” and I am no longer a slave, but God’s child, and since I am His child, God has made me an heir to His kingdom (Galatians 4:6-7)
  • I am invited to approach God with freedom and confidence. (Ephesians 3:12)
  • I have been redeemed and am forgiven of all my sins (Colossians 1:14)
  • I am complete in Christ (Colossians 2:10)

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank you Lord for Your word and for sending Jesus to be our Savior. Lord forgive me for questioning my identity. Help me to remember that in You I am complete, loved, free, accepted, and worthy. I pray that each person who reads this is able to find their true identity in You. Lord, the enemy has been relentlessly attacking so many in our world with lies and schemes to take our eyes off of the truth. I pray you will open each of our hearts, eyes, and ears to Your truth and direction. In Jesus name I pray

Amen

Daily Devo- World Hatred in the Last Days

It is 2020 and the world seems to have lost its’ mind. From a global pandemic that caused a shortage of toilet paper– to riots, looting, and pure hatred for our president as well as accusations of a stolen election.

Hatred is at an all time high in America– we are slowly going from the United States of America to the Divided States of America.

There are many in our country who are pushing to turn things of evil into things that are acceptable and good. This comes from a place of pride, selfishness, and lack of knowledge of the truth in God’s Word.

Those who claim to be Christian are under great scrutiny right now. The world is watching every step we take and using our imperfect if we actions to draw conclusions about our perfect and loving Savior- Jesus Christ.

The Bible tells us that the world will hate us– just as they hated Jesus. Jesus faced many attacks during His time here and warns us that we are ‘no better than our master’. Meaning we should acknowledge that they hate us because we are not of the world– we are of Christ– who the world also hated. If we were of the world- they would love us.

If we are faithful servants and believer’s of Jesus Christ the questions is not if the hate and attacks will come, but when.

John 15 goes on to tell us that we are not alone– they hated Jesus without a cause– and they will do the same to us.

John 15:18-25 NKJV

The World’s Hatred

18 “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. 21 But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 He who hates Me hates My Father also. 24 If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father. 25 But this happened that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, ‘They hated Me without a cause.’

We need to be prepared with the knowledge of truth in the gospel, so that when the attacks come– we can defeat each one in the name of Jesus. The Bible warns us in 2 Timothy 3 that in the last days perilous (full of danger or risk, exposed to imminent risk of disaster or ruin) times will come.

2 Timothy 3:1-15 NKJV

Perilous Times and Perilous Men

But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.

The Man of God and the Word of God

10 But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, 11 persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra—what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me. 12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Are you prepared with the gospel of truth, and ready to take a stand for Jesus?

We are living in the last days and the hatred for the truth in God’s Word is growing. Many are putting their personal feelings as priorities over the truth- removing God from many areas of our life.

I have been told we must keep the separation of church and state as the reason as to why their feelings or ways are being discriminated against. I can agree there should be a separation of church and state but NOT a separation of Jesus and state– these are two completely different things.

One is a building with religious practices and rules; where as the other is a relationship and foundational base of our country. All moral principles and laws were made based on the truth in the Bible. (stealing is illegal, lying is wrong, cheating/adulatory is wrong, we are to respect our elders, and forgive those who have hurt us– the list could go on)

The Bible is our foundational truth– the truth that people should be using as their source to ‘fact check’ anything. Without the compass of truth and morals– there would be no laws to follow.

I encourage you today to start preparing yourself for the day Jesus returns. Prepare yourself for the battles that lie ahead and equip yourself with the truth of God’s Word.

If the world hates you because of your relationship with Jesus- you are not alone- pick up your cross and keep pushing forward. Fight for what is good and right according to the word of God.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for sending Jesus to be by my side and to go before me in each battle I face. Thank you for Your guidance through Your Word on the hatred in the world and the last days we are living in. I confess that I have allowed the hatred of others to affect my relationship and walk with You- forgive me Lord- and expose to me any hatred I am holding in my heart. Bring every thought and action in accordance with Your will for my life. I pray You would be my strength when I am weak and that in You I will run and not grow weary when standing against the hatred in the world. It is in Jesus mighty name I pray.

Amen

Daily Devo- Can we trust the Bible?

2 Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV

16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Is the Bible fact or fiction?

All scripture is God breathed- God inspired.

God CANNOT lie!

The Bible is historically true.

Psalm 33:4
For the word of the Lord is right,
And all His work is done in truth.

The word is true and right. It has passed the history test many times. Peter, Moses, Mark, Luke- they were all there. Their stories are eye witness accounts.

There are rules to ensure extreme care when the Bible was copied and continues to hold these same rules today.

The Dead Sea scrolls were written 100 years before Jesus.

Archeology proves that the places and events happened. These sites can still be seen today.

Many have tried to disprove the Bible, however, it always ends the same- the Bible is proved to right. It is scientifically accurate.

Science constantly changes but the Bible does NOT.

God’s word is factual and alive!

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank you Lord for giving us Your inspired scripture for correction, reproof, and instruction in righteousness. Lord forgive me for anytime I have doubted Your Word or its’ accuracy. Lord I pray that each person would have discernment when reading the Bible. Give them Your guidance and help them to understand what we read and how to apply it to our life. I pray those who question Your word or existence would see the proof and know Your word is factual and alive. It is in Jesus name I pray.

Amen

Daily Devo- An Overcoming Attitude

By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.

1 John 5:2-4 NKJV

How you feel and how you handle those feelings are two very different things. The world we live in is very emotionally driven. As Christians we should be aware and on guard with what we are allowing to drive our decisions and actions.

To develop an overcoming attitude we have to first get rid of the stinking thinkin. You know what I am talking about– the I stink, you stink, life stinks– attitude. Negative thinking is toxic and our emotions can cause us to make decisions we normally would not make. Heightened emotions and negative thinking can get the best of us and leave us in a vulnerable state.

One of the most important things you need to remember when life knocks you down is that there is no rut to big or to deep for God to pull you out of. When the pressure is on and we feel like we are sinking– we need hope.

24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“Therefore I hope in Him!”

Lamentations 3:24 NKJV

Never doubt in the dark times what you know God has promised in the light!

Sometimes in life we have to argue with ourselves about what the truth is and what the emotionally driven reaction is. Stories and life events become inflamed when we are pondering on them with the wrong attitude. They can overtake us and shift the focus from the truth to emotionally driven reactions.

An overcoming attitude comes with knowing how to handle criticism. If it is untrue– ignore it– if it is unfair– do not let it bother you– if it is ignorant– smile through it– and if it is true-learn from it.

It is important that we listen to those who know us, love us, and rejoice with us. Remember not everyone is truly your friend– some are rooting for you to fail behind your back– ignore them and follow what you know to be truth according to God’s word.

Keeping our attitudes in check can be difficult, especially if we have deep roots in negativity and are notorious stinkin thinkers. God promises to renew our minds in Him. There is no failure or sin too bad for Christ to restore us.

Our futures are not based on our past. We are new beings in Christ and He never consults our past to determine our future. The process to developing an overcoming attitude does not happen over night– it takes time. We need to remain patient and ready to listen.

God does not fail– Do not give up– you are an overcomer.

16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,

2 Corinthians 4:16-17 NKJV

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank you Jesus for Your truth and power. Thank you for renewing our minds through Your word and being our hope during the storms of life. Forgive me Lord for having stinkin thinking when I should be relying on You. I pray that You help me to develop an overcoming attitude and expose any toxic thinking I may have to myself. I pray that you will expose Your truth to each person who reads this post. Lord guide us all in every step we take. I claim in the name of Jesus we are all overcomers and Your Holy Spirit will remind us of His promises in times of struggle. In Jesus name I pray

Amen

Daily Devo- Truth Not Tolerated

In a world that is clamoring lies- God needs people stand up and speak the truth. Truth that is not the popular opinion but is God’s word. Truth that stands the same today as it did yesterday and as it will in the days to come. Facts and truth do not change- it is our perception of them that do.

The value of truth among the clamoring of lies is priceless. It takes great courage to stand up and declare the truth- knowing no one truly wants to hear it. People claim they want to talk and have open conversations about events in the world today- only to find they do not want to hear anything besides what agrees with their own thoughts and agendas.

People claim to want the truth but when they receive it- they reject it as lies because it does not agree with them. The intolerance for truth has grown far out of control.

Social media networks, big tech, and big media have all chosen to distort the truth and claim lies in attempt to turn the people of our country against one another.

They claim lies as truth and truth as lies. Fact checking every statement made. The problem is they are ‘fact-checking’ against lies instead of the truth- the absolute truth.

God’s people need to wake up and see the growing intolerance against God and the truth in His word. In an effort to “gain equality” for all they are stripping rights away from others. Simply shifting racism and discrimination from one group to another.

1 Kings 22 tells us about Micaiah whom was a prophet who would not tolerate anything but the truth and Ahab whom was the king of Israel who would not tolerate the truth.

Ahab and Jehoshaphat (King of Judah) were forming an alliance to go to war with Syria. This was a terrible idea to begin with. Ahab was an evil king who worshipped idols and surrounded himself with false prophets and Jehoshaphat had been a good king who led his nation back to God.

Jehoshaphat requested guidance from the Lord as to if they should go to war- so Ahab brought in 400 prophets who ‘prophesied’ great success. Jehoshaphat felt something wasn’t right with these ‘prophets’ and asked for a true prophet from the Lord.

Ahab knew a true prophet but hated him because ‘he do not prophesy good concerning him, but evil.

Micaiah was brought to the summit meeting- at first he plays along just to reveal how silly the kings were for seeking prophecies to confirm what they wanted to hear. When pressed for truth, Micaiah came through and predicted defeat for the kings and death to Ahab- if they went to war.

Micaiah was outvoted 400 to 1. The kings went to war and were defeated. Ahab tried to out smart the prophecy and disguise himself to avoid being killed.

But God’s word always stands.

Ahab was killed.

People in the world today are quick to tolerate anything and everything- except what doesn’t agree with them. The truth is the truth no matter what people may do to try to distort it.

Someone not believing what is the truth- does NOT make it any less true.

People need to hear the truth above all the clamoring of lies in the world. It is time to be intolerant of intolerance to the truth.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank you Lord for giving us the truth in Your Word. Thank you for blessing us with the freedom to choose to seek it in a world that is hell bent on standing on lies. Lord forgive us for being quick to believe what those in the world say is true and not doing our own fact-checking against Your Word. Lord, I pray you would give us courage to stand up for truth. I pray for discernment for all to know when they are being deceived. I pray for wisdom to understand what Your Word says to be true. I pray that You would light a fire in each of our hearts so that we would desire to seek You above all things. I declare in the name of Jesus that Satan’s schemes and deception will NOT prosper. I declare Jesus Christ is our Savior and He alone will save us from the enemy. I pray for safety for our country and Your mighty protection over each of us in Jesus mighty name I pray.

Amen

Daily Devo- Deceptions Discovered

Deception is deep in the roots of the world today. For years, generations have been slowly moving away from the morals and foundational truths that our world was built upon. Evil is beginning to flourish in our nation and people are basing their self-worth on what they do or do not do and what others think of them.

In a world that the enemy is deceiving us people are destined to drink the cup of lies. Lies so deep they ultimately lead to failure. I have believed this lie for years! As a Christian I noticed my life did not seem any different than those who were non-believers.

I knew I had to be missing something- where was my peace and security in Jesus. I certainly was not feeling it or seeing it!

I began to ‘try harder’ to gain the approval of those around me, ultimately causing me to feel more ‘valuable’. This did not help! Unfortunately, it took me YEARS to discover that I was being deceived to my core and I had NO IDEA! It ultimately led to me feeling alienated, insecure, lonely, and an extreme fear of abandonment.

The definition of deceived is:

  • cause to accept as true or valid what is false or invalid
  • to give false impression
  • to make someone believe something that is not true

Insecurity comes from being born into a fallen human race and is a common struggle among people. When we struggle with insecurity we need to look within ourselves to find out the underlying reason we feel this way.

Feeling insecure comes from a problem within a persons foundational beliefs. Just as a fever indicates a physical health illness- insecurity indicates a faith ailment and should be addressed accordingly with God’s truth.

Many people seek relief for their emotional, relational, and spiritual insecurities. The intense feelings of insecurity is debilitating and painful.

Life is a constant struggle to gain more and more freedom for this debilitating ‘birth defect’ that we all have. The Bible warns us in many places to be aware of our natural conditions.

And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,

Ephesians 2:1 NKJV

17 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, 18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart;

Ephesians 4:17-18 NKJV

22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

Hebrews 10:22 NKJV

We are also warned that our battle with security and significance does not disappear as soon as we accept Jesus. We must be on guard and check everything against the standards of God before accepting something as true.

2 Prime Deceptions

  1. We do not realize that we are plagued by many deceptions of the world. These type of deceptions come in all shapes and sizes- in varying degrees- and from varying sources. No amount of contemplation or reasoning can reveal every person’s core deceptions- only God can reveal the deceptions that hinder our lives individually.
  2. What we think we believe isn’t what we truly believe. Believing something in your mind but lacking full commitment in our heart is called intellectual assent. I am going to use myself for the example- I grew up with a harsh, condemning, and abusive father- so when I heard that God is a loving, forgiving, and patient Father- I believed this in an intellectual assented way.

I knew in my mind that God was good- His word tells me so- but it took years for me to realize that I wasn’t truly trusting God with all my heart. I would verbally state I believed God is a loving God- but due to my early beliefs of what a father was – being rooted in deception from my earthly father I struggled to trust God. If I am being honest, on occasion, I still catch myself subconsciously not trusting in Him.

Our ‘heart beliefs’ is what controls our understanding and experience of God. When we come into the world as babies- we have no defense against absorbing the deceptions around them. That, combined with our natural minds that are antagonistic (showing dislike or opposition) to the things of God- we tend to entrust our lives into critical beliefs that are false. False heart or critical beliefs influence our lives and beliefs about God and who we are. It also influences our thinking when it comes to our value and worth.

Discovering the Deception in Your Life

We do not usually question our core heart beliefs- especially when those around us hold the same ones. However, if we trace our insecurities back to their roots- we will find it is always due to a deception that we believe about how God responds to our failures, sin, or falling short of His standards.

Every perception of God, every way a person interacts with Him, is built on what they believe is the basis of their relationship with Him.

-Robert McGee

Satan has been quite successful in distorting this aspect of persons relationship with God. These type of heart deceptions are common- even in born again Christians- because we hold a distorted view of grace and God’s unconditional love for us. We intellectually know these things, but our hearts won’t believe what our minds acknowledge and know to be true.

Believer’s and non-believer’s fail consistently because of our sinful nature. If we are not relying completely on the grace of God and His love we will have feelings of abandonment. Feeling as if God has left us or even worse, He is our enemy, or that He is punishing us in some way.

When we experience these feelings of abandonment, loneliness, and insecurity- God desires that we come to Him and ask Him for help- allowing the Holy Spirit to expose to us any deceptions on which we are depending or believing.

When we feel the feelings of anxiety, fear, abandonment, and insecurity we don’t have to fear these experiences. God allows us to have these experiences so that He can show His people the deceptions on which we are relying, and then remove them.

God wants to set us free of every deception- every feeling of abandonment, insecurity, and fear. If we seek Him and His truth, discernment, and understanding- He will set us free from our insecurities and deceptions!

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank you Lord for being a God of truth and love- For offering us discernment and security through Your word. Lord I pray You break every chain of deception the enemy has over each of us. I pray You would expose the lies we are believing in our hearts and show us the truth to replace them with. God, I ask for forgiveness for falling prey to the enemy in my heart beliefs and for not seeking Your truth. Lord, I pray for each person who reads this message- that You would touch their hearts- open their eyes- and show each of us who we are in You. I declare every insecurity, feeling of abandonment, and feeling of loneliness be shut down and the chains be broken now, in the name of Jesus I pray.

Amen

Daily Devo- Take A Stand

Always stand up for what is right and good, even if you feel like you stand alone! Now is the time for people all around the world to be taking a stand. Too many people live their life ‘on the fence’ so to speak. Trying to float through life in a neutral- uncontroversial way- being easily swayed back and forth between two opinion’s: truth and deception.

On one side of the fence: the world- on the other- God’s kingdom.

We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.

1 John 5:19 NKJV

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.

1 John 2:15-16 NKJV

God’s kingdom representing truth, love, patience, faithfulness, meekness, kindness, self-control, etc. The world’s side represents the skewed views of truth and morality- confusing what is right and wrong and misleading people down a destructive path. It is full of deceit, violence, hatred, strife, pride, greed, anger, etc.

12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Colossians 3:12-17 NKJV

During a time where emotions are high and our nation is divided more than ever- we need to be the light in an otherwise dark world.

The biggest problem non-believers have with Christians is they say we are hypocrites.

This is because we aren’t deciding where we stand and choosing to take the stand regardless of what others think or feel. We are saying one thing and doing the opposite. When they look at us on the outside and see we are no different than others in the world, we are hurting the image of God.

This doesn’t mean we have to walk through life being over the top religious. God calls us to be who we are- in Him. Remember, it’s about the relationship with God not organized religion. However, we also can’t go through life ‘willy-nilly’ doing whatever we like without any regard of the consequences to our actions.

Often times we are the only example some non-believers ever see of God- we are to be living in God’s kingdom at all times. Once we have made the choice to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior- we are in God and His holy spirit dwells within us. We are new creatures and the world should be able to see there is a difference in us. We are no longer of this world.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV

There are many controversial subjects going on around the world today, in which the media and government have tried to skew as acceptable and right. Things that are clearly spelled out in the Bible as wrong, unrighteous, and some even as an abomination to Him.

We need to remember that the truth is in Him. God is truth. We do not follow the beliefs of the government or anyone else for that matter- except God.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

John 14:6 NKJV

The whole justice and moral measurement system originated from the Bible and what God has laid out as right and wrong. It seems as if the world has forgotten about God and our moral compass. Now the world is running on personal feelings- which is causing the nation to fall deeper into sin and further away from God.

I have found myself treading lightly around some of today’s controversial topics- in order to ensure I didn’t offend anyone. However, I don’t believe this is what God wants from us.

The more I studied and prayed for our nation the more I realized how God had to be feeling when He sees our nation falling into the traps of Satan and quickly self-destructing.

We have to be very careful as to what we grasp on to as truth and allow into our life and to guide our moral compass.

I believe that God is telling us today to PICK A SIDE!

It’s time to get off the fence and take a stand for what is right and good in the eyes of the Lord. In a time like this- we are the voice for God. We can not stand by and allow the world to fall at the hands of deceit.

If we know something is wrong- yet the world is telling us that it’s okay and acceptable-we must remember we are NOT of this world. We are set apart and made new in His image.

This does not mean we have to be rude or make a big scene when in a situation that is clearly against what the Bible says and what God approves of. But we also do not have to participate or entertain the idea(s) that is of a sinful nature.

As Christians we are the example of what God does for a person’s life and how living with the Holy Spirit dwelling within us, truly sets us apart from the world. If those around us can’t see a difference in us- we are doing the Holy Spirit a huge injustice.

We stand up for our kids when we feel like the school teacher has done them wrong
We stand up for friends and family when others speak against them
We stand up for the injustice in the wake of police brutality
We stand up against anyone or anything that threatens our well being
But, why do we not stand up for God and His truth?

TODAY IS THE DAY TO STAND UP!

Well what if I offend someone?, you may be thinking. Well, that’s just too bad. As long as you are taking a stand from a place of love, peace, and God’s defense- speaking with respect and gentleness- You have no reason to fear any thing. God is with you.

Besides, do you not think God is offended by our lack of standing up for what’s right- offended by the behavior and actions of those who are misconstruing the truth. I am sure He is- But He is a forgiving and merciful God if we repent from our sinful ways.

I ask you today, is there something that comes to mind that you have been on the fence about? Something you know is wrong- but you have been justifying why you are not taking a stand and picking a side about it?

Are you standing in a lukewarm position- neither hot or cold in your relationship with God?

And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word.

1 Kings 18:21 NKJV

He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.

Matthew 12:30 NKJV

15 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth

Revelation 3:15-16 NKJV

In the above scriptures you can see we are better off to be hot or cold but not lukewarm. This is why I am urging you all today to take a stand- get off the fence- and defend what we know is proven to be good and right with God.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for being a merciful and forgiving a God. A God that is never changing- always near- and loves abundantly. Lord, we thank you for this message to take a stand. I confess and ask You to forgive me for straddling the fence in particular areas of my life. I pray that you would open the eyes of each person’s heart- let them see You- Your truth- and feel Your presence among them. I pray that You would expose to each of us any area of our life that we are straddling the fence on- give us the wisdom and clarity to take a stand in and for God’s Kingdom. Lord I pray that You would fill each of us with confidence and boldness in the Holy Spirit. Draw near to each one of us- give us discernment to know what is truth and what is deceit from the world. I pray through the help of the Holy Spirit I am able to be a light for You- a beacon of hope and truth in the dark world around us. I pray that we would learn to stand up and step out in faith- knowing we are not of this world in Jesus mighty name I pray.

Amen

Daily Devo’s Coming Soon!

Here we are in 2020, life is certainly anything but “normal”. There is a world pandemic known as the coronavirus or Covid-19 happening, there are civil rights movements for “Black Lives Matter” and the LQBTQ Community Pride, there is rioting and violence through-out the streets all across America, some are protesting to defund the police, and we have a never seen before divide in America over the upcoming election, the good and evil in the world surrounding us is butting heads. Good being called evil and evil consider good and acceptable.

With all of the misconstrued ideas and information, I thought going back to the basics of Spiritual Life was necessary. It seems as if we get wrapped up in the world around us and are hanging on every word from the media and we neglect to look for the answers in the Bible, to recognize the bigger picture, and learn to look within ourselves.

Let’s take a look at what has lead us up to the current situations in the world today.

In order to do this. we must start at the beginning, which is why I have decided to do daily devotional’s– a short reading each day to help you grow in understanding and truth.

The core of the Christian faith is belief that one God revealed Himself in the flesh, as Jesus Christ and throughout the Bible- that He and His word are alive today.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Lord God, I thank You for Your guidance and mercy over my life. I thank You for using me to help spread Your truth and love. I pray You prepare the hearts of every person who reads the daily devotionals and other articles on this blog. God open their heart and minds to Your truth. Use me, oh Lord and help me to spread Your word in truth and a way that is understanding to all. God, I thank You for all You do and all You are. I pray You will protect us all in the uncertain days ahead. Lord, we trust in You alone and take refuge beneath Your wings. I thank You for being a forgiving and gracious God, in Jesus mighty name I pray.

Amen
