Struggling is a part of the sinful world we live in. Everyone will face times of struggle, trials, and tribulations regardless of their faith in God. The importance lies in how we react and handle life’s battles when they strike.
Job was a Godly man and had great faith and love for God, but Job faced a lot of suffering and loss. Job was a wealthy man who not only had a lot of money, animals, and ‘stuff’, but he also was in great health.
In Job 1 satan and God have a discussion about Job and his faithfulness. Satan basically says that Job only loves God and is so faithful to Him because God has blessed him and his possessions are great. Going on to express that if God allowed all of his wealth and possessions to be taken away, that Job would certainly curse God.
God allowed satan to have power of Job’s possessions and wealth but strictly told satan not to lay a hand on his body.
Satan left the presence of the Lord and went out to attack Job’s possessions.
Job lost his wealth, his animals, and all of his possessions. However, Job did not sin! Instead Job fell to the ground and worshipped God. In all that Job had lost and faced he did not sin nor did he blame God for any of it.
Satan tells God that all a man has in possessions he will give up for his life, but if He allows Job’s bone and flesh (health) be taken, that he will surely curse Him (God). So God allows this but strictly states to spare his life.
Job then loses his family, his friends, and his health. He is covered from head to foot in painful boils. Job still did not curse God or blame Him for what was happening in his life.
Instead Job cries out and curses the day he was born. (Job 3)
Job is a great one to look at for examples of how we should remain faithful in God during all seasons of our life. Job shows us that our love for God and our faith in God should not depend on how we feel He is treating us.
Satan is the author of pain, suffering, grief, and loss. He wants to use these things to separate us from the love and mercy of God. He wants us to remain bound by our feelings, allowing them to navigate our faith and love for God; keeping us from the awareness of God’s higher purpose for our life.
God is always near regardless of what our circumstances may look like or how we may feel, God is always good and near to us in our brokenness, pain, and sorrow.
Do you think you would react the same way if God took away all your belongings, wealth, and health?
What is one thing God is telling you or showing you through Job’s suffering?
Do you allow how you feel God is treating you to affect how you feel about God?
Call to Action

I encourage you to set your feelings aside and seek the truth’s in God’s Word, allowing Him to guide your every step and trusting what He says over what you feel.
Thank you Lord for being a faithful, patient, and loving God. For giving us the example of Job’s suffering so that we may see our own suffering in his story. Lord forgive us for falling trap to our feelings and allowing them to drive our actions and faith. I pray that each person who reads this will be touched by Your truth. Lord I pray you would expose our faithfulness or lack of to each of us, show us where we need to apply Your truth more and prune out the schemes of satan. Lead us in every area of our life. God I pray You would remind us of the example Job set when we face our own times of suffering and loss, help us to remain strong in Your truth and faithful to Your calling. In Jesus mighty name I pray.
Deception is deep in the roots of the world today. For years, generations have been slowly moving away from the morals and foundational truths that our world was built upon. Evil is beginning to flourish in our nation and people are basing their self-worth on what they do or do not do and what others think of them.
In a world that the enemy is deceiving us people are destined to drink the cup of lies. Lies so deep they ultimately lead to failure. I have believed this lie for years! As a Christian I noticed my life did not seem any different than those who were non-believers.
I knew I had to be missing something- where was my peace and security in Jesus. I certainly was not feeling it or seeing it!
I began to ‘try harder’ to gain the approval of those around me, ultimately causing me to feel more ‘valuable’. This did not help! Unfortunately, it took me YEARS to discover that I was being deceived to my core and I had NO IDEA! It ultimately led to me feeling alienated, insecure, lonely, and an extreme fear of abandonment.
cause to accept as true or valid what is false or invalid
to give false impression
to make someone believe something that is not true
Insecurity comes from being born into a fallen human race and is a common struggle among people. When we struggle with insecurity we need to look within ourselves to find out the underlying reason we feel this way.
Feeling insecure comes from a problem within a persons foundational beliefs. Just as a fever indicates a physical health illness- insecurity indicates a faith ailment and should be addressed accordingly with God’s truth.
Many people seek relief for their emotional, relational, and spiritual insecurities. The intense feelings of insecurity is debilitating and painful.
Life is a constant struggle to gain more and more freedom for this debilitating ‘birth defect’ that we all have. The Bible warns us in many places to be aware of our natural conditions.
And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,
17 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, 18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart;
We are also warned that our battle with security and significance does not disappear as soon as we accept Jesus. We must be on guard and check everything against the standards of God before accepting something as true.
2 Prime Deceptions
We do not realize that we are plagued by many deceptions of the world. These type of deceptions come in all shapes and sizes- in varying degrees- and from varying sources. No amount of contemplation or reasoning can reveal every person’s core deceptions- only God can reveal the deceptions that hinder our lives individually.
What we think we believe isn’t what we truly believe. Believing something in your mind but lacking full commitment in our heart is called intellectual assent. I am going to use myself for the example- I grew up with a harsh, condemning, and abusive father- so when I heard that God is a loving, forgiving, and patient Father- I believed this in an intellectual assented way.
I knew in my mind that God was good- His word tells me so- but it took years for me to realize that I wasn’t truly trusting God with all my heart. I would verbally state I believed God is a loving God- but due to my early beliefs of what a father was – being rooted in deception from my earthly father I struggled to trust God. If I am being honest, on occasion, I still catch myself subconsciously not trusting in Him.
Our ‘heart beliefs’ is what controls our understanding and experience of God. When we come into the world as babies- we have no defense against absorbing the deceptions around them. That, combined with our natural minds that are antagonistic (showing dislike or opposition) to the things of God- we tend to entrust our lives into critical beliefs that are false. False heart or critical beliefs influence our lives and beliefs about God and who we are. It also influences our thinking when it comes to our value and worth.
Discovering the Deception in Your Life
We do not usually question our core heart beliefs- especially when those around us hold the same ones. However, if we trace our insecurities back to their roots- we will find it is always due to a deception that we believe about how God responds to our failures, sin, or falling short of His standards.
Every perception of God, every way a person interacts with Him, is built on what they believe is the basis of their relationship with Him.
Satan has been quite successful in distorting this aspect of persons relationship with God. These type of heart deceptions are common- even in born again Christians- because we hold a distorted view of grace and God’s unconditional love for us. We intellectually know these things, but our hearts won’t believe what our minds acknowledge and know to be true.
Believer’s and non-believer’s fail consistently because of our sinful nature. If we are not relying completely on the grace of God and His love we will have feelings of abandonment. Feeling as if God has left us or even worse, He is our enemy, or that He is punishing us in some way.
When we experience these feelings of abandonment, loneliness, and insecurity- God desires that we come to Him and ask Him for help- allowing the Holy Spirit to expose to us any deceptions on which we are depending or believing.
When we feel the feelings of anxiety, fear, abandonment, and insecurity we don’t have to fear these experiences. God allows us to have these experiences so that He can show His people the deceptions on which we are relying, and then remove them.
God wants to set us free of every deception- every feeling of abandonment, insecurity, and fear. If we seek Him and His truth, discernment, and understanding- He will set us free from our insecurities and deceptions!
Thank you Lord for being a God of truth and love- For offering us discernment and security through Your word. Lord I pray You break every chain of deception the enemy has over each of us. I pray You would expose the lies we are believing in our hearts and show us the truth to replace them with. God, I ask for forgiveness for falling prey to the enemy in my heart beliefs and for not seeking Your truth. Lord, I pray for each person who reads this message- that You would touch their hearts- open their eyes- and show each of us who we are in You. I declare every insecurity, feeling of abandonment, and feeling of loneliness be shut down and the chains be broken now, in the name of Jesus I pray.
Have you ever heard people say “Why did God let this happen? Why does God hate me? What have I done so wrong to deserve this? I am a good person, why does all these things keep happening to me?”
Lets start by defining the difference between a Plan for your life and a Plot against your life.
Plan- a detailed proposal for doing or achieving something
Plot- a plan made in secret to do something illegal or harmful
Friend you need to know that God is NOT behind the hurt, anger, suffering, sadness, loneliness, depression, illness, or any other negative feeling that is keeping you from enjoying life. John 8:44 says “..When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he a liar, and the Father of it.” This is Satan, he is the Father of all Lies! God is a Father of love, joy, protection, and eternal life.
God has a specific plan for your life and has had one before you were born, a plan for your life so great that you and I could never imagine. Jeremiah 29:11-16 says this to us.. “For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to me and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart…”
However, from the day you are born Satan begins forming his plot against you as a child of God, whom is chosen to prosper and grow, to be blessed beyond anything we can imagine; to live joyful and fulfilling lives. Satan does NOT want us living a life of joy and happiness and he certainly does NOT want us to fulfill our calling in the kingdom of God because that is one less soul he can “Steal” from the glory of our Father. Satan plots against us as he wants to destroy our lives it says so in John 10:10 “The thief (Satan) does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I (Jesus) have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
It’s very easy to fall into a trap of one of Satan’s lies and deception he is very good at what he does and he studies us thoroughly to know our weaknesses so that his temptation and plot will work in his favor; causing us to feel discouraged and unworthy, but there is Hope in the faith of Jesus. 1 Peter 5:5-9 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.” The bible tells us we will daily be tempted and that Satan searches for ways to deceive us and wreck havoc in our lives. James 4:7 says “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” If we are steadfast in prayer and our faith in God he will provide us the “ways out” of sin, temptation, and negative thinking all in which are direct attacks from the enemy to destroy us and our perception of life.
Often times we wonder why things happen in our lives; the good, the bad, and everything in between. Our perception on life is solely based on what we choose to believe and accept to be true in our lives. If we stay focused on God’s plan for our life, knowing his plans are always good and choose to have faith in his promises, accepting his grace and forgiveness; then we will live a life of joy. If we choose to believe the lies of Satan, follow worldly views, and chase plans made in the flesh we will come to find a life full of disappointment, hurt, loneliness, depression, lack of worth, sadness, and the list can go on and on. The bible teaches us that Jesus’ unconditional love, promises, and guidance is what we need to live prosperous and fulfilling lives, free from the bondage of Satan and his lies and deception.
Proverbs 19:21- “There are many plans in a man’s heart, Nevertheless it’s the Lord’s counsel(plans)–that will stand.”
This tells us not to chase the desires of the world and the plans we have made within ourselves as men and women of the flesh. But to chase God and his plan as his plans are what will become true. Remembering God’s plans are ALWAYS good!
Psalm 32:8-9- “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. 9 Do not be like the horse or like the mule, Which have no understanding; Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, Else they will not come near you.”
God wants us to seek him to ask him to show us the way in all things. He wants us to know His word and promises and to believe in them. He does not want us “to be like the horse or like the mule” he wants willfully near to him in times of thanksgiving and times of need.
Ephesians 2:8-9– “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, so lest anyone should boast.”
Some people feel as if they must do “good works” to achieve God’s grace and salvation and many people believe what I like to call the ultimately lie from Satan and that is that they will never be good enough for God or that God is mad at them. This is a straight lie from Satan himself as Ephesians 2 tells us it is ONLY by grace we have been saved. Grace is a gift no one deserves but that is offered to everyone FREE of charge from God. All you must do is accept the gift and truly believe and have faith in Him. God’s Plan is to save us and to bless us abundantly when we seek him with our whole heart; Satan’s Plot is to make us believe we will never be good enough for God and that God is mad at us which keeps us from running to God and seeking him daily.
Hebrews 11:6- “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.”
Grasping on to God and his promises for your life comes with great reward. Having faith in Him and believing his word to be true will cause great change in our mindset, life, and perception. God’s plan is to bless us and reward us for seeking Him. Satan’s plot is to derail our faith, stop us from seeking, and to keep us in darkness destroying every aspect of our life and our perception of it.
Ephesians 6:12- “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
It is not man we are up against in this life it is much more. It’s the lies and deceit of Satan that is our true enemy. Satan will use circumstances, people, and objects to deceive us in to believing his lies and going astray from God. Like mentioned earlier, Satan studies us and knows our weaknesses and attacks us in the areas he knows he is most likely to succeed. Chopping down our faith in God one branch at a time and attempting to plant a new seed of deception in our minds that if we feed will overtake and become a massive tree of negativity. Poisoning our thoughts and branching out growing larger with each lie we believe from Satan. If we continue to feed this tree it will overtake our mind and leave no room for the “tree of life” blocking all the truths and promises we have in God. Satan’s plot is to chop down the tree of life in our hearts and minds; to replace it with a tree of deception, doubt, and destruction; paralyzing us from feeling God’s love. God’s plan for our life is to feed the tree of life, knowledge, and truth making its roots and branches so strong that no lie, no trouble, and no plot of Satan could even shake our tree let alone begin chopping it down one branch at a time to plant one of his own full of negativity and death.
I encourage you today to start taking notice to the attacks from Satan as he plot’s against you. For each negative thought, every untruth he whispers to you, every circumstance he puts before you to derail you from God’s plan remember to call upon God with the truth to stop the enemy in his tracks. Matthew 16:22 says “..Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, For you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” that’s what Isaiah 55:8-9 says. Trusting in God and his plans for our life is a great blessing. For He has seen all before and knows the perfect way to bring you through the storm in such a way that you grow stronger and are blessed for being faithful all while glorifying His name. Isaiah 55 tells us we can dream and hope for things in this world but God can provide us with that and much more that we have never even thought of. I encourage you to chase Gods Plan and resist the lies and deception from Satan destroy his plot against you and God and rejoice in the promises and blessings of God.
God’s plan for your life is so big and so powerful that Satan has created a plot against you to kill your faith, steal your hope, and destroy your life and salvation. But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9. Therefore I encourage all to love and seek God with all your heart and refuse to allow Satan’s plot to destroy God’s great plan for your life. What will you choose? God’s Plan of life, love, truth, and blessings or Satan’s Plot of lies, deception, and death?
