You are not enough

We are created by God– for God and the society we live in today is promoting self love, self truth, and self identity ultimately leading to themselves being their own god. Many of the agenda’s being pushed by society and some ‘christians’ are simply NOT Biblical.

Self affirmation attacks and victimizes one’s self–stirring up the emotions of needing to hear and feel like one is ‘enough’ or that we are ‘perfect just the way we are’.

Daily Devo- New Year, New Beginnings

2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

The new year has finally arrived and many of us are hoping for a better year then 2020. The new year seems to be the time people choose to make an effort to change something in their life. New year resolutions for things like weight loss, to stop smoking, eating healthier, to exercise and so on.

However most of these new years resolutions do not make it passed a week or so. This is likely because people are trying to make these changes within their own will power; which rarely ever works. The Bible tells us that without God we can do nothing, but with God we will bear much fruit. With God all things are possible. (Matthew 19:26)

John 15:5-7 NKJV

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.

This year I want to encourage each of you to make changes that will last. Make changes that will bear great fruit and lead you to a deeper connection with God.

The Bible tells us that when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior that we become new creations in Him. The old passes away and all things are made new. In God we get a fresh start, a blank slate, and new beginnings.

Are you ready for a new year– new you?

God is waiting for you. Change is inevitable; the changes could be bad or good. However, even the bad changes have purpose in our life; they help us to grow and mold us into who we are.

Change is meant to polish you to make you shine brighter

When we make the ultimate, radical change and choose life over death, committing our lives to God and His kingdom we are made new in His image. His word tells us to forget the old things and focus on what God is doing in our life currently. Explaining that He can make ways when there seems to be no way.

Isaiah 43: 18-19 NKJV

18 “Do not remember the former things,
Nor consider the things of old.
19 Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.

Change can be scary and uncomfortable when we are going through it, however God reminds us that His plans are for us are good and prosperous; they are meant to give us hope and a future.

Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Often times when we choose to hand our life over to God; to renew our minds and save ourselves from our own sinful destruction; we will notice we will lose things from our former self. Things such as friends, family members, habits, and more, but God promises that He will replace these things with something far better.

The story of Job is a perfect example of this. He lost his health, his wealth, and all of his children died, but he kept his faith in God. Guess what?!? When the trial was over God blessed Job with far more than he had before.

Job 42:12 NKJV

12 Now the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys.

This year make the ultimate change and commit your life to God. If you seek Him above all else, He will guide your path and bless your life.

Proverbs 16:3

Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and he will establish your plans.

Matthew 6:33 NKJV

33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heavenly Father,

Thank you Lord for Your safety and protection throughout last year. Lord, although 2020 was full of uncertainties there is still a lot to be thankful for and I am truly blessed by Your mighty hand.

Lord a new year is upon us which means new obstacles, new trials, and many many new blessings. I pray that as we kick off the new year that as a nation we would dedicate our lives and future to You. That we would relay solely on Your guidance, direction, and protection. I pray as we walk through each day we would live a bold and courageous life for You.

I pray those that are lost would seek You and commit their lives to You; accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior. I pray that You would remind us that change is not always easy but it is necessary to live a fulfilling and prosperous life. I pray that Your will be done in each of our lives in Jesus mighty name I pray.

Daily Devo- Road to Salvation

Today’s devotional is about sharing the road to salvation. A recent study I completed through the Christian University Online referred to it as the “Romans Road to Salvation”. This is probably due to the fact that it consists of 8 different scriptures all found in the book of Romans in the Bible.

Follow me as we take a trip down the “Romans Road to Salvation” and dig into scripture to see what the Bible says about salvation and its importance in our life.

Recognize that no one is free of sin- no one is perfect.

Romans 3:23 NKJV- 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Recognize the consequences of sin without Jesus

Romans 6:23 NKJV- 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Acknowledge the sacrifice and love from God

Romans 5:8 NKJV- But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Accept and confess- you are a sinner and need Jesus to save you

Romans 10:9 NKJV- that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Call upon Him-Invite Him into your life- You are saved

Romans 10:13 NKJV- 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Gift of Salvation

Romans 5:1 NKJV- Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

You are free!

Romans 8:1 NKJV- There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for the gift of salvation. For loving me so much to send your son to die for my sins. Lord I recognize that I am a sinner and fall short of your glory each day. Forgive me Lord for the sins I have committed. Lord help to give me discernment, strength through temptation, and ability to withstand the deceit from Satan. I am so thankful you are a forgiving and gracious God, regardless of my many short comings. It’s in Jesus’ mighty name I pray.

Daily Devo- Spiritual Formation

Salvation is a new beginning for our life and should not be viewed as an event that has occurred. It’s a starting point for our reborn spirits and we are called to grow in our salvation– to deepen our relationship with Christ.

Just as babies are not meant to stay small and helpless– we are not meant to stay spiritually immature. As new believers, we are babies in God’s family and should be growing in our relationship with Him.

As a part of our fleshly desires we look forward to when we can start driving– go to college– get married– or grow up in general. We should also feel this excitement and look forward to growing in our spiritual life as well. Seeking His direction and will for our life as we study His word (the Bible).

The process of which we strive to become more like Jesus in our attitudes, characteristics, thinking, and actions is called spiritual formation.

It’s not enough to simply believe in Jesus– we are called to live, act, and think like Jesus. Spiritual formation should effect everything in our life– health- finances- family- relationships- occupation- social issues- and death.

Spiritual formation comes with being in a place where God- His love- His grace- and His forgiveness can work within us. It is important to consistently surrender ourselves, our time, and our wills to God. This is not done by trying harder but by having an appetite for the things of God.

How do you start growing and forming an appetite in Christ?

4 areas of Spiritual Communication

  • We speak to God through prayer (Philippians 4:6-7)
  • God speaks to us through His word-the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16)
  • We speak to other believers about Christ (Hebrews 10:24-25)
  • We speak to non-believers about Christ (Romans 1:16)

Heavenly Father,

Thank you God for the gift of spiritual rebirth and salvation. Lord I pray that You will help me to have an appetite for Your word and to grow in You spiritually. Lord, I want You to direct my path and lead my life in all areas. I want to grow in all four areas of spiritual communication and fulfill my calling. Lord help me to live, act, and think like Jesus putting all my trust in You. In Jesus mighty name I pray.

Daily Devo- Restoration and Transformation

Jesus’ sole purpose on Earth was to bring us new life by offering up His life as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. Jesus saved us from the destructive power of sin! He bridged the gap between us and God, enabling us to be transformed by His Holy Spirit into the beings He intended us to be.

The transformation by the Holy Spirit is available to anyone who accepts God’s gift of salvation and forgiveness. When one accepts God’s gift they are born into a new life. This is what Christians refer to as being reborn spiritually. The Bible tells us the old passes away and God raises up a new life and new purpose within us.

A persons church membership, attitude, religious practices, and baptismal are all important parts to the Christian life, but these things alone do NOT make a person a Christian. Unfortunately, there are many people in the world today who claim to be Christians but have never had a personal intimate relationship with Jesus– causing much confusion to those who do not understand the difference between religion and relationship.

Sin created a massive wedge between God and man where there use to be a close intimate relationship with Him. Each person was created for fellowship and relationship with our Creator, but once sin was introduced into the world by Adam and Eve we began to choose to go our own way instead of following Gods perfect plan and will for our lives. (Isaiah 53:6)

The result of this rebellion is tragic. Rebellion against God is spiritual death.

However, the Lord is eager to forgive us and restore our fellowship with Him.

So how do you do this?

3 Biblical Requirements

  • Admit you are a sinner (Romans 3:23)
  • Recognize the seriousness of your sin. God sets a standard of perfection in which no one can please Him in their own self-efforts, this is why we need Jesus to bridge the gap. (Isaiah 64:6, Romans 5:8, Romans 6:23)
  • It’s not enough just to know that Christ died for us, you must receive it.

Heavenly Father,

Thank you Lord, for this message about You and Your word. I am thankful to know you are a forgiving and merciful God, who wants an intimate relationship with me spiritually. God, I pray You will open my heart and mind to Your truth, help me to have clarity, discernment and understanding as I read and study Your word. Lord, I pray for transformation and restoration for myself and each person who does not know You or the truth in Your word. Thank You God for being a promise keeper and a way maker in Jesus mighty name I pray.

Prayer for Salvation

Heavenly Father,

Lord I need You in my life– I am a sinner and I fall short daily. Forgive me for my sins and for living my life within my own self-efforts and not trusting in You. I believe in You God, that you sent Your only son, Jesus, as a sacrifice for my sins. I believe He died, rose again, and is alive today. Come into my heart and take control of my life. Raise up a new life within me and cleanse me of my sins. I put my trust in You and You alone. I receive Your gift of salvation in Jesus mighty name I pray.

Weapons of Mass Destruction

We are under attack! Satan is attacking our values, our beliefs, our families, our cities, our country, and our souls. The Bible tells us that Satan only comes to steal, kill, and destroy but Jesus came to give us life and to give it to us abundantly.

Our world is in a spiritual war, like we have never seen before. People are full of hatred, negativity, and down right disrespect. Refusing to hear anything that disagrees with their beliefs or personal agenda. No group has been left out of the attacks– from the minority movements to removing God from school, television, and everyday life.

Satan has stirred up strife among so many through his lies and deceit. He has driven wedges between families, friends, and nations as a whole. Whispering the lies that drive the hatred between people or groups of people to an all time high.

Satan has our country so divided that we are attacking anyone whom has a “different” view on race, religion, sexual orientation/preference, politics, or even the meaning behind particular monuments, statements, and hand or body gestures.

We must learn to stop the enemy’s attack as soon as it starts. Access and use our own weapons of mass destruction against him. God has already won this war– we only have to believe and use the weapons He has given us.

What are these weapons, I am referring to?

Simply put, God’s Word– Scripture.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 NKJV
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal (of the flesh) but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ

Luke 10:19 NKJV
Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Put on the Whole Armor of God

Ephesians 6: 10-20 NKJV
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of [c]the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— 19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

God has given us His Word and all the authority to bind the attacks of the enemy. There is no special way to use these weapons; we only need to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior and know His Word; so that we are equipped with scripture when the attacks from Satan come before us.

This is the time for our nation to rise together– to stand firm on the Word of God– to overcome evil with good– to spread love to one another– and to stop the hatred from filling our hearts.

Let today be the day you decide to be a part of the solution– to take a stand against the attacks of the enemy. If you haven’t already done so, I encourage you to give your heart to Jesus. Accept Him as your Lord and Savior and pick up the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to fight every attack with weapons of mass destruction– God’s Word.

Prayer for Salvation

Heavenly Father,
Thank you Lord for loving me so much that You would send Your only son to die for me on the cross. Forgive me Lord for my sins– come into my heart and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. God I want You to be my Lord and Savior– the rock on which I stand. Come into my life, change me, renew me, and bring me closer to You. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray.

Prayer Over the Attacks of Satan

Heavenly Father,
Thank you Lord for your Word and for your gift of salvation. Thank you for giving us the weapons we need to withstand the attacks from our enemy. God, I pray that each person who reads this will have clarity on the message you are giving. I pray that they would seek to take up the whole armor of God. That they would equip themselves with your Word and remember to access it’s power when under attack. I pray that each person’s heart would be filled with your love, mercy, and forgiveness. That each would eagerly be wanting to be a part of the solution by spreading love and stopping the violence and hatred. Remind us God that we must overcome evil with good and that You have already won the battle. Lord help us to put our trust in You and You alone. Knowing that You have given us all the power over the enemy and nothing by any means, shall harm us. Thank you Lord for Your promises and and authority in Jesus mighty name I pray.

3 Mental Barriers preventing a relationship with Christ

In times like we are in today, when the world is turned upside down, as fear and panic are being pumped through the media due to the Covid-19 Pandemic- the nation and its people need to be running to God, not from Him.

I find myself in an awe of disbelief when reading comments and posts from local news stations. The amount of people that are belittling, mocking, and/or denying God and His almighty power is shocking to say the least.

This is a time to stick together, to rise stronger than ever before, to call upon our Savior for help, and to spread the love and truth of Jesus Christ.

Easter was this past Sunday and I don’t find it coincidental that at a time like this we are all having to “carry our own cross.” God is faithful, trustworthy, powerful, and He is the only hope we have to rise above and be saved from our own sinful nature.

It’s hard for me to read comments from others that are bashing and mocking God and His power, when I myself have seen God at work first hand in my life. This brought me to the question of why.

Why are people fighting His love, His power, and His ever present help when we are all in need of something?

The world may be full of uncertainty right now, but one thing remains certain and that is God’s plan. God has already won the battle- He already knows how all of this will end.

So what is holding us back from the relationship with God?

These 3 mental barriers likely have a lot to do with the “why” in your life.

1. Pride
Thinking I got this, I can figure this out, I don’t need anyone’s help

2. Fear
Thinking about what others will think of you, fear you will turn into a “Jesus freak”, fear God will not want a relationship with someone like you

3. Bitterness
Holding on to hurt from the past, growing your heart hard from all of life’s disappointments, and closing your mind and heart off from allowing anything new or positive in

Can you relate to any of the above mental barriers?

I know that even as a devout Christian and follower of Jesus, when I find myself having a “dark season” full of problems and uncertainty, I can usually take a look at my inner being and recent interactions or lack of with God and pinpoint exactly which of the three barriers above has me blocked from overcoming and moving forward.

I’m encouraging you today to do a soul search on yourself.

Do any or all of the above mental barriers exist within you? Are you avoiding a relationship with God because of one or more of these barriers?

Maybe these barriers exist within other relationships as well, not just your relationship with God.

It’s time to break the barriers!

Seek God’s word and His guidance- read the Bible, starting in the areas that you struggle with most and Pray, Pray, Pray!

God can and will redeem and restore you. It takes time and fervent prayer but God is faithful- He is a promise keeper!

Heavenly Father,

Thank you Lord for all You do and all You are. Thank you for this message and for Your promises. Lord, I am a sinner and I need Your help, I can’t do this on my own. Lord save me from my sinful nature and wrap my in Your arms. I struggle with mental barriers of pride, fear, and bitterness. Lord, renew my mind, remove the fear, pride, and bitterness. God, show me if there are barriers I am not recognizing. Lead me and guide my paths. God, I need You, I want to run to You first, I want to feel Your love surround me. Lord, deliver me from the enemy and protect my mind, body, and soul. I pray for good health, restoration, and protection over myself, my family, and every nation effected by this pandemic. God we know you have the whole world in your hands and do not wish for any to perish but all to have everlasting life. I pray all the glory be given to You and Your kingdom in Jesus mighty name I pray.
