Check out the new podcast video with special guest Nate Ward, where we are discussing boldness in our relationship with Jesus Christ. Originally aired live on Facebook on 7/31/21. We hope you find this message encouraging and it stirs something inside of you to want to be bold for Christ.
I am sure you have heard the famous question of, “Do you see the glass as half empty or half full?” This question is usually asked when trying to determine if a person is pessimistic or optimistic.
However, I recently heard another pastor (I don’t remember who) state that what people are forgetting is that the glass if refillable!
Such an obvious yet deep statement; one that I never really looked at before now.
It is typical of the world we live in to make you believe there are only two options; in this case half empty or half full. In other cases, it may look like; we are to believe what the government and the ‘majority’ are saying or stand against them.
Pushing an outrageous agenda that an individual is either supportive of the misguided opinion or you are a hate filled bigot who must be stopped is another example of today’s society deceiving you to believe it is one or the other.
BUT GOD! There is ALWAYS going to be the original set standard of truth, morality, purpose, and creation. The Bible warns us of the days that the world will perceive lies as truth and truth as lies. We must remember our roots and stand strong like a tree that is planted by the water– we shall NOT be moved.
Going back to the cup analogy; there is another popular saying that comes to mind and that is, “You cannot pour from an empty cup.” Referring to self-care, if you continue to pour out your love, patience, understanding, and so on, but you never refill the cup eventually you will have nothing left to pour out; your glass will be empty.
The point is, you do not have to be conformed to the worlds’ view and perception.
The glass is neither half full nor half empty– the glass is REFILLABLE!
When you are feeling down and like your glass is half empty, I encourage you to dig into scripture and fill your glass back up with good, pure water (the Word) and have confidence in knowing that the Lord knows we all need a ‘refill’ that is why His Word tells us in Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
God knows that the world is going to persecute, distort, and attempt to leave you feeling empty. That is why His Word, the Bible, is full of encouragement, truth, and promises you and I can count on.
We must be careful not to buy-in to the lie that our cups are half empty and we definitely do not want to be refilling our cup with the ways of the world.
If you don’t refill with the correct pure water (truth, the Word of God, and Jesus), your cup will contain filthy, tainted water of the world; which can leave you feeling more empty than ever before.
Lord, I come to You this morning so thankful and humble for Your promises and that You are a promise keeper. Father, sometimes we see our glass as half full and other times half empty. God, You know our hearts and struggles, forgive us for quickly falling trap to lies in the world. God I pray You help us to remember that You are our cup and our cup is refillable! God remind us that we cannot pour from an empty cup and that we need You, Your Word, and Your faithfulness to refill us with good and pure water. Lord help us to remember to call on You when we are feeling weak or empty. Help us to not allow the world to fill our cup with dirty tainted water that will only poison our souls and those around us. Lord, I cry out today fill our cups! Give us the renewed strength, patience, and love we need to continue to spread Your love and kindness to others. I thank you for Your many blessings and claim these promises today in the name of Jesus.
The world is full of hurt, disappointments, fear, anxiety, depression, and the list goes on. I write this devotional today with a heavy heart from personal experience’s with the mentioned emotions in my own life and those that I love.
The struggle is real, the hurt is deep, and the fears can be paralyzing.
Depression, anxiety, fearful and negative thoughts plague us daily and are growing during this season of the pandemic. We are under attack physically, mentally, and emotionally. Many are feeling more disconnected today than ever before.
These are attacks from our enemy- satan- the author of lies and the father of it. The enemy that only comes to kill, steal, and destroy every aspect of our life and keep us from fulfillment in God’s purpose for our life.
God has already defeated the enemy. We can cry out to Him for help and He WILL rescue us.
We are not alone and do not have to face these difficult times alone– God is near to the brokenhearted!
Psalm 34:18 NIV The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Psalm 142:6 NIV Listen to my cry, for I am in desperate need; rescue me from those who pursue me, for they are too strong for me.
I want to encourage each person that may be facing difficult times and emotions to reach out– Talk with a loved one, a doctor, a friend, or myself (firstname.lastname@example.org)– just please ask for help. My heart is breaking for all those that are lost and are struggling alone.
YOU ARE LOVED!
YOU HAVE GREAT PURPOSE!
YOU ARE NOT ALONE– GOD IS ALWAYS WITH YOU, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU DO NOT FEEL IT!
It is okay to not be okay. It shows strength and courage to seek help with your struggles especially those that are emotional and mental.
Trying to battle the feelings, thoughts, and attacks alone will only feed into the already difficult circumstances. Our enemy plants lies in our mind when we are aimlessly wandering in our thoughts– these seemingly small seeds can quickly grow into deep rooted beliefs about ourselves and our circumstances. Starting as a single negative thought then quickly spiraling into a playground of negativity and lies in our mind for satan to torture us and attempt to keep us chained by the lies, out of God’s will, and bound by our feelings.
Seeking help and facing our feelings along with the trauma that caused them is not easy, but it is necessary for total healing and freedom. Although learning to navigate through these seemingly never ending cycles of hurt, depression, and downward spirals of negativity is hard; it is possible.
God’s word tells us that He can take the impossible and make it possible– through Him ALL things are possible! (Matthew 19:26)
Take a stand for yourself and your future. Step up and step out. Admit that we are weak but He is strong. Hand each emotion, traumatic event, worry, fear, anxiety over to Him and let God do the work in you and for you.
It may seem hard to believe in the midst of the storm but God will help you through deep waters, He will comfort you, He will protect you, and He will save you from your despair. He did it for me and He can do it for you too!
Thank you Lord for Your Word and Your comfort in times of trouble. Thank you for the promises to never leave us nor forsake. For always being near to those of us who are brokenhearted and struggling with life’s storms. Lord God I pray that Your message be heard through these words. I pray You will be a light to so many during this dark season. I pray that those who are battling depression, fear, anxiety, and hurts from this broken world would turn to You. Soften their hearts, open their eyes and ears to Your truth. Lead each of us and protect us from the schemes and lies of the enemy. I declare in the name of Jesus chains be broken, people be truly freed in You, and that you will transform each one of us with the renewal of our minds through Your truth, grace, and love. In Jesus mighty name I pray.
Motivational Monday’s are back! Check out this weeks motivational video below! Share it on Facebook to encourage others this week!
During one of the most trying times in my life to date- I felt as if my world was falling apart. Each day came with a new surprise that would bring more pieces crumbling down around me.
It seemed as if no matter how hard I tried, I prayed, I cried, and begged God to help me- nothing ever changed. I literally felt as if I was losing my mind, my body, my family, and my life in general.
I studied the Bible, sought after God’s direction, and desperately wanted change. However, it seemed as if the more I fought to overcome- the more that seemed to be going “wrong”.
I held on to my faith knowing that God’s word tells us in John 16:33 that in this world we will have tribulation but to be of good cheer because He has overcome the world.
My problems were big but I knew my God was bigger. I couldn’t help but to feel hurt, forgotten, ignored, and many other emotions as things continued to not work out the way I wanted them to.
I was also aware that God’s plan is what will prevail but as many of us do, I seemed to have “forgotten” this little- yet VERY important piece.
A very dear friend of mine, a co-worker at the time, told me to listen to the song Just Be Held by Casting Crowns. It was an emotional day so I immediately took my break and listened to the song.
Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness! This song was PERFECT! I broke down in tears and balled like a baby. This was just what I needed to remind me of who is in control, the one I have in my corner fighting for me (even when we don’t see it or feel it).
If you haven’t heard the song you need to… “Your world is not falling apart-it’s falling into place! Just be held..”
God spoke to me through this song in such a powerful way. Reminding me that I am like an infant child to Him. He holds me, protects me, wipes my tears, and carries me through the storm. EVERY SINGLE TIME- NO MATTER WHAT! All I have to do is reach up my arms and ask Him to help me, hold me, protect me, and get me through this trying time.
God doesn’t want us to worry, stress, and feel overwhelmed by the things happening in the world today or in our personal lives. God only wants us to TRUST IN HIM and LOVE HIM with our whole heart, mind, and soul.(John 10:27)
Sometimes when life gets us down and we feel as if we are being kicked repeatedly by the enemy- we need to change our perspective. God works all things for the good to those who love Him (Romans 8:28)
So remember the next time it feels like your world is falling apart…ITS FALLING INTO PLACE. Find peace in knowing it’s in God’s time and He will ALWAYS carry you through if you ask Him.
5 Bible Verses for Mom on Mother’s Day
Isaiah 66:13 NKJV
As one whom his mother comforts,
So I will comfort you;
And you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.
Proverbs 31:25-29 NKJV
“Strength and honor are her clothing;
She shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She opens her mouth with wisdom,
And on her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 She watches over the ways of her household,
And does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children rise up and call her blessed;
Her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many daughters have done well,
But you excel them all.”
Deuteronomy 6:1-9 NKJV (emphasis added verse 7)
“Now this is the commandment, and these are the statutes and judgments which the Lord your God has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them in the land which you are crossing over to possess, 2 that you may fear the Lord your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged. 3 Therefore hear, O Israel, and [a]be careful to observe it, that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly as the Lord God of your fathers has promised you—‘a land flowing with milk and honey.’
4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
6 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
Proverbs 31:31 NLT
Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
Psalm 139:13-14 NKJV
For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
In times like we are in today, when the world is turned upside down, as fear and panic are being pumped through the media due to the Covid-19 Pandemic- the nation and its people need to be running to God, not from Him.
I find myself in an awe of disbelief when reading comments and posts from local news stations. The amount of people that are belittling, mocking, and/or denying God and His almighty power is shocking to say the least.
This is a time to stick together, to rise stronger than ever before, to call upon our Savior for help, and to spread the love and truth of Jesus Christ.
Easter was this past Sunday and I don’t find it coincidental that at a time like this we are all having to “carry our own cross.” God is faithful, trustworthy, powerful, and He is the only hope we have to rise above and be saved from our own sinful nature.
It’s hard for me to read comments from others that are bashing and mocking God and His power, when I myself have seen God at work first hand in my life. This brought me to the question of why.
Why are people fighting His love, His power, and His ever present help when we are all in need of something?
The world may be full of uncertainty right now, but one thing remains certain and that is God’s plan. God has already won the battle- He already knows how all of this will end.
So what is holding us back from the relationship with God?
These 3 mental barriers likely have a lot to do with the “why” in your life.
Thinking I got this, I can figure this out, I don’t need anyone’s help
Thinking about what others will think of you, fear you will turn into a “Jesus freak”, fear God will not want a relationship with someone like you
Holding on to hurt from the past, growing your heart hard from all of life’s disappointments, and closing your mind and heart off from allowing anything new or positive in
Can you relate to any of the above mental barriers?
I know that even as a devout Christian and follower of Jesus, when I find myself having a “dark season” full of problems and uncertainty, I can usually take a look at my inner being and recent interactions or lack of with God and pinpoint exactly which of the three barriers above has me blocked from overcoming and moving forward.
I’m encouraging you today to do a soul search on yourself.
Do any or all of the above mental barriers exist within you? Are you avoiding a relationship with God because of one or more of these barriers?
Maybe these barriers exist within other relationships as well, not just your relationship with God.
It’s time to break the barriers!
Seek God’s word and His guidance- read the Bible, starting in the areas that you struggle with most and Pray, Pray, Pray!
God can and will redeem and restore you. It takes time and fervent prayer but God is faithful- He is a promise keeper!
Thank you Lord for all You do and all You are. Thank you for this message and for Your promises. Lord, I am a sinner and I need Your help, I can’t do this on my own. Lord save me from my sinful nature and wrap my in Your arms. I struggle with mental barriers of pride, fear, and bitterness. Lord, renew my mind, remove the fear, pride, and bitterness. God, show me if there are barriers I am not recognizing. Lead me and guide my paths. God, I need You, I want to run to You first, I want to feel Your love surround me. Lord, deliver me from the enemy and protect my mind, body, and soul. I pray for good health, restoration, and protection over myself, my family, and every nation effected by this pandemic. God we know you have the whole world in your hands and do not wish for any to perish but all to have everlasting life. I pray all the glory be given to You and Your kingdom in Jesus mighty name I pray.
