Religion vs. Relationship

The world around us is so focused on “religion”, that we have lost sight of what God really wants from us — a relationship. Religion is based on a set of rules, do this, don’t do that, etc. God simply wants us to Love, starting with Him. He wants us to seek Him above all else, lean on Him and His promises, in times of struggle and keep faith in the season of waiting. You see, God wants you to focus on searching within ourselves and finding Him and our purpose.

You can follow the “set of rules” set before you in any religion and still NOT be saved. You can be a “good person” by your standards or even the world and still NOT find favor with God. God wants your time, attention, and pure openess with Him. We need to start recognizing God as our best friend, best resource, and ONLY option in good times and bad. God is not a some “magic man in the sky” who you can call on because you want something and expect God to come running. God is merciful and forgiving and will ALWAYS be near to those who call upon Him, however He knows the intentions of your heart.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying you can do whatever you want as long as you think you have good intentions. Nor am I saying, that God doesn’t want you to be mindful of your sin(s) because He absolutely does. I want people to see and understand that God wants to be in a relationship with us, so that we run to Him with everything; good, bad, and otherwise.

Some people get the wrong idea about God, church, and being a believer in general. This can stem from many places; from being hurt by the church or a member of the church they have attended in the past; to being raised in home with other misguided opinions; to feeling like God “could have saved them” from a situation or a life event(s) and did not.

God is our Heavenly Father, not like an earthly father, He will NEVER let us down, NEVER leave our side, and will NEVER break His promises. Sometimes in life we have to go through things we do not understand and certainly do not see why God would allow such things, but God did not promise a life without trouble, He promised He would see us through it all!

God is a Savior, a Healer, a Provider, a Counselor, and so much more! God is Love, and not the kind of worldly love that is based on what you do or do not do but UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.

I enourage everyone to seek God for themselves. Open the BIble and read His word and Truth do not take someone else’s word for it. I mean this is your life, eternal life at that. Don’t get to wrapped up in the “rules” and start seeking God for who He is and the life He has in store for you!
